The following directions show how to attach an adjustable socket to a solid base to which our electric candles can be wired.
For this example, we have attached the sockets to a 3/4" thick rectangular board; however, using the concept below, sockets can be easily attached to surfaces made from metal, concrete, wood or other types of materials.
The shape of the final structure is only limited by your imagination. To keep our example simple, we are attaching the socket to a small board, but we have customers who have built Christmas trees that contained over 700 lights (see picture here), set designers that have created 30 foot rivers of candles and churches that have made candle-laden alters using the basic techniques shown here.

Parts List Items 1, 2 and 3 are available for purchase at $7 per socket set. (click here to purchase)
2.
Drill 1/2" hole into the base structure.
3.
Screw threaded pipe into candelabra socket about 1". Screw one nut onto the pipe until it reaches the base of the socket. Screw a second nut onto the pipe until it is about 1 to 2 inches from the bottom of the pipe.
4.
Insert the pipe into the base structure and screw the third nut onto the bottom of the pipe. Tighten the bottom nut so that the pipe is securely fastened to the base structure.
5.
Screw the candle bulb into the socket. The base of the "flame" should be 6" tall.
Height adjustments can be made two ways: by loosening the screws on the sides of the socket to slide it up or down or by adjusting the placement of the nuts along the pipe so that the socket is positioned higher or lower along the pipe.
6.
Slide the candle sleeve over the top of the candle bulb and socket.
7.
The final product will look like a wax candle with a flame. Adjustments to the height of the flame can be made by following the directions in item 4.
8.
After installing all of the sockets that you need into your base structure, have a certified electrician or someone familiar with your local electrical code do the actual wiring of the sockets. |
